He left that practice in 1989 to establish Alexander Ramage Associates. Eric takes a keen interest in professional education, and has tutored trade mark law and advanced practice to aspiring trade mark attorneys, and has lectured on internet and domain name issues, for many years.  He is deputy Chair of the Joint Examination Board for entry on to the registers of Patent Attorneys and Trade Mark Attorneys in the United Kingdom, and is qualified as a tutor in advocacy for the Nottingham Law School courses for those seeking to qualify as trade mark attorneys or as trade mark advocates.  Eric Ramage is formerly a member of the governing Council of the UK based Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys.  He is currently a member of that body’s Litigator Accreditation Board and Litigator Conduct Committee.   He is a member of Council of the European Community Trade Mark Association (ECTA).   Eric has substantial experience of Internet issues dating back to 1999 when he was invited to serve on the Policy Advisory Board of the UK domain name registry Nominet, of which he was Chair between 2006 and 2010.

Eric is a member of the International Sheep Dog Society and owns and exhibits a vintage truck. He shares an enthusiasm for canal boats with his wife and partner Maggie, and has been trying, since 1963, to find time to master the five string banjo.
